Geneva, SANA-Health Minister Nizar Yazigi and his Belarusian counterpart Vasily Zarko signed on Tuesday a cooperation agreement in production field and mutual supplying of medicines and medical equipment.
Following the signing ceremony which came on the sidelines of the 69th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA), Yazigi pointed out to the high level of joint cooperation in the health sector between Syria and Belarus in the interests of the two friendly peoples, adding that the cooperation agreement will provide specific medicines and medical equipment and will expand the fields of cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that according to the agreement the two sides will be able to cooperate in the fields of joint production of medicines and medical equipment, promote their products in foreign markets, work on develop new effective medicines and medical equipment, train specialists, exchange assistance between the companies, control the quality of medicines according to the international standards and develop medical assistance techniques.
In turn, Minister Zarko affirmed that the agreement will enter into force as of the date of signature and its valid for one year and will automatically renewed for similar periods, referring to the Belarusian concern to enhance cooperation with Syria in the health sector which will reflect positively on the Syrian and Belarusian peoples.
On a relevant context, the health ministers of the member countries of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) discussed in a meeting held in Geneva the developments of health situation on the global level.
In a statement following the meeting, Yazigi said that the meeting offered an opportunity to unify stances towards the topics on the WHA agenda and the best means to offer comprehensive health care services during the current circumstances experienced by the different countries all over the world, which is one of the most dangerous stages of humanity due to the humanitarian crises and natural disasters which resulted in unprecedented challenges for the health sector.
The 69th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva will continue its works till May 28th with the participation of 194 member states and the representatives of international organizations and donors.
