Kremlin: Russia ready to cooperate with US to ease tensions at Syrian talks

Moscow, SANA- Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that the intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva must continue despite the situation being extremely tense as there is no alternative way to settle the crisis.

“We think that it is principally important for Syrian settlement and has no alternatives. Russia is absolutely open for cooperation with other interested countries, probably, first of all, with US,” he said adding that in this case, contacts continue.

“Work is intense though we in fact state that the situation in the dialogue process is very tense,” Peskov said. “It definitely requires very energetic efforts from all sides,” he added.

The spokesman noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to hold a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura. “No such meeting is included in the president’s schedule,” he said.
