Ministry of Agriculture, ACSAD discuss prospects for future cooperation

Damascus Countryside, SANA- Ministry of Agriculture and the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) discussed Wednesday prospects for future cooperation between the ministry and the organization in all agricultural activities and projects.

That came during a meeting between Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Dr. Mohammad Taha al-Ahmad, and ACSAD Director-General, Dr. Naser Eddin al-Obaid.

During his visit to ACSAD headquarters in Damascus Countryside, accompanied by a technical, scientific and agricultural research delegation, Minister al-Ahmad was briefed on the achievements and scientific research that the organization’s experts are working on in the field of agriculture and water to achieve sustainable development in Syria and the Arab region.

The Minister of Agriculture praised the great role of ACSAD management, researchers and workers in developing Arab agriculture and achieving sustainable agricultural development and food and water security in the Arab region.

For his part, Dr. al-Obeid expressed the organization’s readiness to increase and develop cooperation and provide everything necessary to advance the agricultural sector in Syria.

He stressed that the organization has been keen since its establishment in 1968 to provide its expertise to all Arab countries, especially in Syria, and has achieved accomplishments and success stories in all agricultural and animal fields.

Dr. al-Obaid highlighted ACSAD’s efforts to adapt to climate change and its negative impacts on agricultural and water resources and its contribution to implementing the Arab Food Security Strategy.
