Syria, Germany discuss ways to enhance cooperation in health sector

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Germany have discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.

That came during a meeting Wednesday that brought together Minister of Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Maher al-Sharaa and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze as well as the accompanying delegation.

Dr. al-Sharaa highly appreciated the German Government’s efforts and endeavors to provide assistance during the current period to the Syrian people, who have suffered so much oppression, displacement and torture in the past years.

He noted that the health sector had been largely destroyed and the needs are great, including the reconstruction and rehabilitation of hospitals as well as medical supplies, training and rehabilitation of health workers.

Al-Sharaa stressed that the Health Ministry seeks to provide medical services equally to all the Syrian people.

In turn, Minister Schulze expressed Germany’s readiness to partner with Syria in a manner that is consistent with the current needs of the health sector in various fields, commending the efforts made by the transitional government in this regard.
