Italian film documents damage inflicted to Palmyra’s ancient city

 

Palmyra, SANA – The renowned Italian director, Marco Botoka has started making a documentary film about the historical landmarks and ancient civilizations in Syria, especially Palmyra city, and the contribution of the Silk Road in enhancing the city’s prosperity with focus laid on archeological sites destroyed by Daesh terrorists with the aim of obliterating its deep-rooted heritage and culture.

In a statement to SANA, the Italian journalist Sebastien Kitto said that the film highlights Palmyra city’s role in spreading humanitarian culture across the world, taking into account the picturesque natural views of this charming destination.

He hailed the facilitations provided by the concerned bodies in Syria to make the film which reveals  historic secrets and information about Palmyra for the first time.

The systematic destruction of fascinating archeological sites in Palmyra and the murder of archeologist Khaled al-Asaad were  brought under the spotlight, said Kitto, adding that the film will be displayed by the Italian al-Rai TV Channel soon.
