Russian Defense Ministry: If there is no British humanitarian aid for Aleppo, stop getting in the way of others’ help

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Defense Ministry criticized claims of UK Prime Minister’s Spokeswoman Theresa May that Russia is allegedly hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid supplies to several areas in Aleppo, adding that Britain should stop getting in the way of Russia supplying aid to Syria, especially since it does not supply any aid of its own.

“The Russian Coordination Center in Syria delivers humanitarian aid to residents of eastern parts of Aleppo every day while the United Kingdom, in the course of all the years of civil war in Syria, has not allocated a single gram of flour, a single pill or blanket to help civilians,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov was quoted by Russia Today website as saying on Saturday.

He noted that that “the Syrian army forces have liberated almost half of neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city controlled by terrorists since November 28,” adding that “Over 90,000 civilians residing there were freed. Another 28,000 civilians, including 14,000 children, escaped from eastern parts of Aleppo.”

Konashenkov added that ” “If the UK government really wants to send humanitarian aid to residents of eastern areas of Aleppo, there are all conditions for that,” otherwise Britain should “stop getting in the way of others’ help.”

Over the past few days, Units of the Syrian army helped thousands of besieged residents leave Aleppo eastern neighborhoods to safe areas. The competent authorities in Aleppo, in cooperation with the Russian side, continue to provide them with their basic needs.
