Cabinet raises prices for purchasing wheat and barley from farmers, exempts cattle and poultry farms from income tax

Damascus, SANA-The Cabinet charged in its weekly session, chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the Ministries of Interior, Industry, Health, and Internal Trade and Consumer Protection with forming a fieldwork team in each province to monitor food products and counterfeit cleaning products and impose sanctions against violators and counterfeiters.

The Cabinet also raised the purchase price of wheat and barley from farmers, setting the prices at SYP 125 per kg for wheat and SYP 100 per kg for barley, and decided to reactivate the work of the Higher Council for Investment so that it draws up supportive and encouraging polices for investment and follows up on the implementation of these policies.

The Cabinet discussed the need to offer additional amounts of fuel in order to improve the electricity situation and reduce the rationing hours, and it also decided to review the performance and work of the administrations of companies and public establishments, in addition to approving a bill on income tax exemption for cattle and poultry farms for five years as of 2017.

The Cabinet also called on the Communications and Technology Ministry to review and evaluate the work of the General Corporation for Postal Services, in addition to evaluating the state of public and private quarries and calling on the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to follow up on their work.
