Damascus, SANA- Activities of the 2nd Khan al-Harir fashion and textiles expo kicked off on Sunday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus with the participation of more than 65 companies specialized in clothing, fabrics, menswear and women and kids wear.
The expo which lasts till the 4th of October 2016 is organized by Aleppo Chamber of Industry, in cooperation with the Agency for Supporting and Developing Local Production and Exports, the Industry Ministry and the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry.
In a statement to SANA, Head of the Industrial Arab Region Commission and the organizer of the expo, Mohammed Sabbagh, said that the wide participation of local companies proves their presence and determination to contribute to supporting the industry sector and national economy in Syria.
He noted that the number of operating facilities has risen from 500 facilities in 2013 to more than 4000 facilities nowadays, adding that despite the great damage caused by terrorist attacks against factories and industrial areas in Aleppo, over 10,000 handicraftsmen are engaged in preserving “Made in Syria” products.
Sabbagh indicated to the high demand on local products of a quality that compete the European goods.
For his part, Nouri Sairis, from Ismael Mohammed Rami Radwan Company for kids wear, said that the expo provides an opportunity to market the company’s products and get to know other industries and operating factories.
Other participants underlined the importance of the expo in good promotion, direct communication with customers, not to mention the opportunity it offers to sign contracts with internal and foreign parties, introduce the Syrian product to new markets in Europe, the Gulf and Iran and increase the customer database.
They hailed the facilitations and efforts exerted by Aleppo Chamber of Industry to help industrialists overcome all obstacles hindering the production process and preserve the quality and competitiveness of their products.
The expo conveys a message to the whole world that Aleppo still exists and industrialists are steadfast and will continue to produce despite all challenges.
The 1st Khan al-Harir expo was held from 6 to 8 March 2016 at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus with the participation of 70 companies.
