Terrorists of Jaish Al-Islam breaches cessation of hostilities twice in Damascus countryside

Lattakia, SANA – The Russian coordination center at Hmeimim airbase in Lattakia affirmed that terrorist groups have breached the cessation of hostilities twice in Damascus countryside during the last 24 hours.

The center, in a statement issued Sunday evening and published on Russian Defense ministry’s website, said that terrorists of “Jaish Al-Islam” shelled by mortars and rocket launchers a number of areas in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside, pointing out that “the agreement is still standing in most Syrian provinces”.

The center affirmed that neither Syrian nor Russian air force targeted, during the mentioned period of time, positions for armed groups that announced joining the agreement.

The center added that terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS continue their attempts to obstruct the cessation of hostilities agreement by shelling neighborhoods and towns in Aleppo and its countryside with rocket and mortar shells.

On the other hand, the Russian center indicated that the number of Syrian towns which announced joining the agreement rose to 178 after an agreement was reached with a town in Aleppo countryside, affirming that the total number of terrorist groups’ breaches for the cessation of hostilities agreement has reached 764 since the agreement came into effect on 27 February 2016.

The cessation of hostilities agreement doesn’t include ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other groups designated as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council.
