Damascus, SANA _ A plane carrying medical aid and supplies presented by the Czech Red Cross to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (ISARC) arrived on Sunday evening at Damascus International Airport.
President of the Czech Red Cross Marek Jukl said in a statement to journalists that this plane is the first batch of humanitarian aid, with another shipment to be sent later, noting that its contents are based on the requirements of the SARC, and that it consists of field kitchens and medical supplies.
He said that the Czech Red Cross wanted to help the SARC to perform its humanitarian tasks, and that presenting the aid is an honor, voicing confidence that his organization and the Czech government can procure more contributions to provide even more aid.
For his part, the head of the SARC Abdelrahman al-Attar thanked the Czech people and government the Czech Red Crescent, noting that this step shows the independence of the Czech Republic’s decision making.
He added that this aid will be distributed in all Syrian provinces, as the SARC works to deliver aid all over Syria and reaches all areas, noting that while the organization has received aid from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), it has yet to
receive any aid from Arab states.
