Three breaches of cessation of hostilities observed, truce in Daraya extended

Lattakia, SANA – Terrorist groups breached the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria three times in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of breaches to 612 since the agreement came into effect on 27 February, the Russian Coordination Center said.

The center, based in Hmeimim airbase, added in a statement on Thursday that the terrorists of the so-called Jaish al-Islam targeted Syrian army positions with mortar shells in the towns of Jobar, Douma and Jour al-Basha and in Damascus countryside.

The center said that the cessation of hostilities agreement is holding in most Syrian areas, adding that the towns which have joined the cessation of hostilities agreement are now 131, while the number of armed groups which announced commitment to the agreement remains 60.

The truce in the surroundings of Daraya town has been extended as of 1:00 pm on Friday, June 3, the center announced.

It pointed out that Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists continue attempts to foil the cessation of hostilities agreement, as they targeted during the past 24 hours the neighborhoods of al-Midan, al-Ameriyeh, al-Muhafaza, al-Zahraa in Aleppo city and al-Nairab airport and Handarat Camp in its countryside.

Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists also targeted a number of towns in Idleb, Lattakia, Hama, Homs and Damascus, according to the center, which also referred to the increased flow of heavy trucks crossing the Turkish borders into the surroundings of Azaz and Daret Ezza towns in Aleppo to support the terrorist groups operating in those areas.

The center also referred in its statement to reports by local sources observing intensive movements of terrorist groups and vehicles, some equipped with various types of weapons and others armored, in addition to movements of tanks in areas north and southwest of Aleppo city.
