CBS intervenes Tuesday in Damascus and Aleppo markets to stabilize SYP exchange rate

Damascus, SANA- The Central Bank of Syria (CBS) said that it will intervene in the foreign exchange market in Damascus and Aleppo at 12 pm on Tuesday at the Damascus-based CBS HQ.

CBS added in a statement on Monday that the CBS will intervene in the foreign currency market through banks and exchange companies to stabilize the exchange rate of the Syrian pound.
In a relevant context, CBS set the exchange rate of the USD against the SYP at 512.49 for banks, 512.66 for exchange companies and 515 for transfers.

The bank set the price of the EUR against the SYP at 584.47 for banks, 584.66 for exchange companies and 587.66 for transfers.
On Sunday, CBS affirmed that the confusion in the foreign exchange market and the reports about the Syrian pound exchange rate against dollar is part of the fierce campaign which Syria and its national economy are exposed to, pointing out that it strives to defend the Syrian pound exchange rate.
