Cabinet discusses securing drinking water for Salamiyeh city and marketing citrus crops

Damascus, SANA- The Cabinet held its weekly session on Tuesday during which it discussed measures for marketing citrus crops and securing drinking water for salmiyeh city in Hama.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi stressed the government’s commitment to marketing agricultural products locally and abroad by finding new markets in friendly countries, in addition to its commitment to developing the agricultural sector and providing full support to farmers in parallel with the efforts for expanding agricultural investment efforts through the establishment of food and agricultural industries that provide the local market’s needs.

Al-Halaqi asked the Ministry of Water Resources to search for new supportive projects for providing drinking water in Salmiyeh city, reviewing in another context the measures taken to improve the stability of the SYP exchange rate, and also touched on to the visit paid by CBS Governor Adib Mayyaleh to Cuba during which he discussed the possibilities of enhancing relations in the commercial, economic and health sectors.

At the beginning of the session, the Cabinet hailed the achievement of restoring security and stability to al-Qariyatain city due to the strategic, geographical, and economic importance of the city and its surroundings.

Regarding his recent visit to Algeria, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem said that the visit was successful and important, and that it reflected the solidarity of the Algerian people and leadership with Syria and its people in combating terrorism and their awareness of the reality of the terrorist war imposed on them.

Al-Moallem pointed out the keenness of the two countries’ governments on developing the economic and commercial relations and improving bilateral relations to serve the interests of the Syrian and Algerian people.
