Damascus, SANA- The People’s Assembly on Wednesday discussed the performance of the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry.
Members of the People’s Assembly requested during the session which was chaired by Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham speeding up the rehabilitation of oil fields and facilities in areas to which security and stability were restored by the Syrian Arab army in addition to investing them in a way that reflects positively on the status of oil and electricity sectors and contributes to reducing the effects of the terrorist war on economy.
At the beginning of the session, Speaker al-Laham said that restoring security and stability to Palmyra by the Syrian Arab Army and the supporting forces is a victory over the enemies of history and humanity and a strategic turning point in combating terrorism since this severe blow to ISIS terrorist organization began tightening the noose on its positions, paving the way to free other areas in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.
“We say to those who claim to fight terrorism: if you really want to fight terrorism the way is clear.. Cooperate with the Syrian Arab Army and the Syrian Russian alliance and the results will be good and amazing in fighting this cancer which threatens the entire world”, al-Laham added.
In reply to questions of the Assembly members, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Suleiman al-Abbas said that the social and economic consequences of restoring security and stability to every part of the homeland will be clear on the ground soon, adding that clearing Palmyra of terrorism will contribute to bringing life back to oil networks that pass through this city to other provinces.
