Provinces, SANA – 1200 food packages were distributed on Tuesday to the locals of Yarmouk Camp neighborhood in southern Damascus who were displaced by ISIS terrorists and moved to the nearby towns of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm, Ali Mustafa, the Director General of the General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) told SANA.
Supported by the Syrian Government and under the auspices of the Higher Relief Committee, the distribution was carried out by the GAPAR and the United Nations Relief and Worker Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
Mustafa affirmed that delivery of food and medical aid to the displaced people of Yarmouk Camp will continue, noting that around 121,382 food packages and 23,780 health packages have been distributed to beneficiaries so far.
Residents of the terrorist-besieged neighborhood were forced to flee their homes after terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) entered the area with the help of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization in April 2015.
7000 food packages distributed to terrorism-affected people in Hasaka
In the same context, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) started Tuesday distributing some 7000 food
packages to people affected by terrorist attacks in the countryside of the northeastern Hasaka province.
Gharbi al-Mardoud, director of the SARC in the province, told SANA that widows, disabled people and displaced families will benefit from the aid, pointing out that distribution is done through the main distribution center in Hasaka city.
Earlier in January, the SARC branch distributed 20,000 food packages to beneficiaries in the province, including 2000 in Qamishli, 3500 in Ras al-Ain, 4000 in al-Shaddadi and 10,500 in Hasaka.
Food packages distributed in towns in Lattakia
In the coastal Lattakia province, food packages were also distributed to needy people in the towns of Burj Slam and Slayyeb al-Turkman and to displaced families from other provinces staying in the towns.
