Geneva, SANA – The opposition inside Syria stressed their readiness to play a positive role in the process of settling the crisis in Syria politically, said the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov met on Wednesday with a delegation of the Syrian opposition groups inside the country.
Gatilov, the statement said, reaffirmed Russia’s principled stance on the need to ensure that the full spectrum of the Syrian opposition be represented at the Syrian-Syrian dialogue.
The opposition delegation said they will maintain the legitimate right of the opposition who have never left the country and who know all about the real situation in Syria to take part in the Syrian talks on an equal footing.
UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura announced on Wednesday suspending the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva until the 25th of February.
