Damascus, SANA-Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi called on Sunday for forging a united front against global terrorism and its supporters, considering combating terrorism a moral duty for all countries.
During a meeting with a Czech youth delegation that represents the Communist Youth Union (KSM) of the Czech Republic, al-Zoubi stressed the necessity of enhancing cooperation relations between Syria and Czech, hailing the deep historical relations between the two countries at all levels.
The delegation members pointed out that their visit aims at expressing the support of Czech people for the Syrians during the current crisis.
They added that media outlets in Czech witnessed a change in their stances towards Syria after the interview of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with the Czech TV, noting that it was the first time when real information about the conditions in Syria were conveyed to Czech and many European countries.
In a similar meeting with the delegation, Education Minister Dr. Hazwan al-Waz affirmed that the ministry’s top priority now is to ensure the continuity of the educational process and rebuilding schools which had been affected by terrorism, and finding alternative solutions for schools that are used as makeshift centers for displaced people.
The minister reviewed the losses suffered by the educational sector during the crisis, noting that around 5000 out of 22650 schools have gone out of service due to the terrorist attacks, adding that the damage caused to the education sector is estimated at about SYP 235 billion and the number of martyrs neared a thousand of teachers and educational staff, including 500 children.
The minister said that the ministry is exerting all efforts to offer best services for the success of the educational process during the current crisis.
For their part, members of delegation said that the continuity of the educational process is a strong response to terrorism, vowing to convey the true image of what is happening in Syria.
