Konashenkov: Russian raids foiled plans of terrorists to launch a large attack on Hama

Hmeimem, SANA-Spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov announced that the Russian air force raids in Syria during the last two days have led to foiling plans of terrorists to launch a large attack on Hama.

“Due to the accurate strikes of the Russian air force, the Syrian government forces succeeded in breaking the siege on Kwairis airport in Aleppo, which was besieged by the Islamic Sate (ISIS) groups since more than two years ago,” General Konashenkov said at a press conference held on Wednesday at Hmeimem Air Base.

He affirmed that the data about the sites of gunmen and their fortified centers around the airport was revealed by representatives from “the Syrian opposition.”

Konashenkov said that the Syrian army has succeeded in defeating 7 groups of nearly 900 terrorists in al-Azizya, Kafr Haddad and Tal Mamou where their remnants left their sites.

“The Russian warplanes carried out 85 sorties against 277 sites for terrorists in Aleppo, Damascus, Lattakia, Hama, Homs and Idleb countryside,” Konashenkov added.
