Speaker al-Laham: Unfortunate that AIPU extraordinary meeting isn’t held on Arab soil

Geneva, SANA – Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham criticized the performance of the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) regarding current Arab issues such as the threat of terrorism, the Judaization attempts by the Israeli occupation against Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Israeli occupation’s practices against the Palestinian people.

During the AIPU extraordinary meeting held on Saturday in Geneva on the sideline of the 133rd Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU), al-Laham said that it’s unfortunate that the AIPU meeting is held in Geneva instead of being held on Arab soil, stressing that this shows the weakness and deterioration of the Arab position.

The Speaker said that mere condemnation and decrying have no effect as to curbing the practices of the Israeli occupation, and that moral and national obligations require Arabs to assume a unified position against the Judaization and vandalism carried out by the occupation against Al-Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) in Jerusalem, and that the Arabs must support the Palestinian people in all possible way and avoid infighting and strife.
