Syrian-Iraqi meeting discusses boosting trade exchange and achieving market integration

Damascus, SANA – Assistant Regional Secretary of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal al-Hilal discussed with Head of the Iraqi General Federation of Peasants Associations Hassan Nassif al-Tamimi and the accompanying delegation means of increasing trade exchange, achieving market integration and facilitating the movement of goods between Syria and Iraq.

Al-Hilal considered that the MOU signed between the Syrian Exporters Union and the Iraqi Peasants Associations is an important step towards facilitating the movement of goods, adding that it should serve as an incentive for reaching and signing more agreements on the official or private levels.

He said mutual cooperation is very helpful to the economy of both countries especially that they are facing similar difficulties under the terrorism war targeting them.

In turn, al-Tamimi said that the Iraqi General Federation of Peasants Associations wants to establish better economic relations between the two countries to the effect of promoting trade cooperation, hoping that cooperation will be boosted in the coming period in a way that would reflect positively on farmers in the two countries.

Earlier, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Humam al-Jazaeri called during a meeting with al-Tamimi and the accompanying delegation for integrating the Syrian and Iraqi markets in terms of trade exchange, agricultural and animal production trade exchange and manufacturing industries.
