Death toll of terrorist rocket attacks on Damascus rises to 11

Damascus, SANA – Eleven civilians were killed and another 46 were injured in terrorist attacks with rocket shells that hit Damascus city on Saturday.

A police source told SANA that a rocket shell that terrorists fired from Jobar neighborhood fell in al-Thawra Street, which is one of the most bustling and crowded streets in Damascus, killing 10 civilians, including 3 children ages 9, 13, and 15, and wounding 40 others, some of whom are in critical condition, and in addition to damaging a number of cars passing by the area when the shell hit.

The source said that three more shells landed in the residential area of al-Abbasiyeen, killing one civilian and injuring five others, while another shell hit Baghdad Street, wounding one civilian, and five other shells hit Bab Touma neighborhood, damaging two houses and a number of cars.

A medical source at al-Muwasat Hospital confirmed that the hospital received 17 people who were injured in the attack, among them two children and a woman, and later the source said that the total number of injured people admitted to the hospital reached 20, and 4 of them succumbed to their wounds, including a 9-year-old child and a woman.

Earlier on Saturday morning, five civilians were injured by a mortar shell fired by terrorists on Harasta highway in Damascus countryside, with the shell hitting a microbus near the building of the Water Resources Establishment.
