Cabinet discusses means to deal with terrorist attacks on power and fuel lines

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed during its weekly session on Tuesday a number of services and economic issues, primarily how to limit the effects of the recurring terrorist attacks on power and fuel lines, and steps to improve services and drinking water supplying in certain areas.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi said that the directives in the speech delivered by President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday will be realized in the government’s work during the next stage, particularly in terms of combating terrorism and restoring security and stability.

He also said that the International Media Conference Against Terrorism held in Damascus on Friday and Saturday constitutes a stepping stone towards organized international and regional work to confront terrorism.

The Premier called for adopting plans to curb any waste of water resources, and stressed the need to hold arsonists accountable and prevent any infringements on woodlands, in reference to the recent fires that erupted last week in several areas.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji, reviewed the efforts to supply Aleppo province with drinking water and electricity, and the efforts to restore communications in areas in Daraa where communications were cut off due to terrorist attacks.

Ghalwanji also addressed efforts for delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Nubbul, al-Zahra, Kafraya, and al-Foua villages.
