Syrians in Rome celebrate Al-Quds International Day

Rome, SANA – The Syrian Community in Italy celebrated International Al-Quds Day in Rome on Saturday with participation of Rev. Matanios Haddad patron of the Greek- Catholic Melkite Church in “Santa Maria Ann Kuzmodan” and head of the Imam Mahdi Association in Italy Sheikh Abbas Di Palma.

It is a duty to celebrate this great Day of Quds because we believe that Quds is the capital of all holy religions but not only a single one, Rev. Matanios Haddad patron of the Greek- Catholic Melkite Church in “Santa Maria Ann Kuzmodan in Italy said.

Haddad touched upon the remarkable coexistence in Syria, asserting that the western-backed war aims at partitioning the region and exploiting its resources.

He called on all Muslims across the world to uncover the truth of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists and other criminal gangs which have distorted Islam.

For his part, Sheikh Di Palma elaborated the distinguished coexistence in Syria as the bells of the churches rang at the time of Iftar in Hasaka province during the holy month of Ramadan due to electricity cut off at the hands of the Takfiri criminal gangs.

Di Palma said that the west has committed the greasiest mistake in history through supporting terrorism which will fallback against them.

International Al-Quds Day was initiated by the late leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979 who declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan each year as International Quds Day, in which Muslims worldwide would unite in solidarity and support of the Palestinians.

International Al-Quds Day is also celebrated in several Arab and Muslim countries with protests against Israeli occupation of Jerusalem.
