One killed, five injured in fuel tanker fire in Damascus

Damascus, SANA-A person was killed and five others injured in a fire that burst in a fuel tanker which overturned on a slope in Masaken Barzeh neighborhood in Damascus.

A police source in Damascus said that the tanker’s driver was killed and five others suffered suffocation cases due to the huge plumes of thick black smoke that rose from the fire.

A source at the Police Command said earlier that the driver lost control of the fuel tanker which caused it to hit the road bisector. The tanker burst into flames and heavy smoke filled the sky.

Abdul-Hadi Daher, the Fire Unit Commander, told SANA reporter that the tanker collided with the wall of one of the residential towers in the neighborhood, with the wind speed causing the flames to spread to the first floor of the building, inflicting considerable material damage in eight apartments.
