Provinces, SANA – The army made new gains in the mountainous Qalamoun area on Tuesday, assuming control of more heights, while terrorist organizations suffering more losses in other areas across the country.
Qalamoun, Damascus Countryside
Army units and the Lebanese resistance assumed full control of the heights of al-Bakareh, Thalajet al-Burkan, al-Shkareh, Beit Shakour and Dhalil al-Haj Ali in Qalamoun after eliminating all gatherings of terrorists there, field sources told SANA on Tuesday.
Establishing control over the abovementioned areas followed fierce clashes with terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), during which a large number of the latter were killed and a huge amount of their arms, ammunition and equipment were destroyed, according to the sources.
The army and the resistance also established full control over the areas of Sama’an and Awwad after eliminating the last gatherings of ISIS in them.
Today’s achievement adds to several previous ones made by the army and the Lebanese resistance in the strategic mountainous Qalamoun region, located in the countryside of Damascus.
The latest such gains were establishing control on various heights, including those known as “the strategic blocks”, to the south of al-Jarajir barrens, which overlook the heights of al -Jarajir town, Qarreh town and the Lebanese Arsal town.
Meanwhile, many Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists were killed and a number of their armored vehicles were destroyed during army operations against their gatherings to the north of Hteitet al-Turkman and al-Rihan area on the outskirts of Eastern Ghouta in Damascus Countryside, a military source told SANA.
An army unit targeted ISIS gatherings in al-Dabe’ hill on the border between two provinces of Damascus Countryside and Homs, killing a number of them and destroying vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns.
In the eastern al-Ghouta, the army continued operations against the armed terrorist groups in Deir al-Asafir, Htaitat al-Turkman, al-Rayhan farms, Douma and Harasta, killing and injuring scores of terrorists and destroying their hideouts, concentrations and weaponry.
In Damascus southern countryside, army units targeted and destroyed terrorist’ hideouts and gatherings in Khan al-Sheeh and Bait Jin, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their weaponry and vehicles.
Daraa
In the same context, the army targeted a hideout of terrorist groups’ leaders while they were holding a meeting in the southeastern neighborhood of Busra al-Sham city, 40 km to the east of Daraa city in southern Syria.
The hideout was completely destroyed, said the source, confirming that all those who were inside were killed.
A number of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists were killed and their arms and ammunition were destroyed during an operation by an army unit against their hideouts to the east of al-Nueimeh town in the eastern countryside of Daraa province.
Another army unit clashed with terrorists to the west of Khirbet Ghazaleh town, leaving a number of them killed or wounded.
Meanwhile, an army unit killed a number of terrorists as it targeted their gatherings in the western side of Kafar Shams village, which is considered a center for Jabhat al-Nusra and the so-called “Al-Muthanna Movement”.
Several vehicles equipped with machine guns were destroyed by an army unit in various areas in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood in the city of Daraa.
Later, the source said army units targeted groups of terrorists and their hideouts in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood and in the towns and villages of al-Nueimeh, Atman, Mzeirib, Enkhel, al-Sheikh Miskin, Ibta’, al-Yadouda in the countryside of Daraa province, destroying vehicles and weapons and ammunition dumps and killing a large number of the terrorists.
Quneitra
In the neighboring Quneitra province, gatherings of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists and several of their dens were targeted during army operations in various areas in the northeastern countryside of Quneitra province, southern Syria.
Some of the gatherings hit were near the cemetery of Ofania village, where many terrorists were killed or injured and their arms and ammunition destroyed, according to the source.
Terrorist organizations in Quneitra countryside have suffered heavy losses in personnel during the past days as many of their groups’ leaders were confirmed killed, including Abu Humam, the leader of Jabhat al-Nusra’s so-called “military wing in al-Shaikh Mountain” who is nicknamed Abu Humam and Abu Hasan al-Jinani, who is the leader of “Ahfad al-Rasoul Brigade”.
In the meantime, army units destroyed an ammunition depot and killed a number of terrorists in Mas’hara and al-Toloul al-Homr in Quneitra countryside.
Aleppo
The army air forces destroyed a convoy of vehicles for ISIS terrorists and killed all terrorists in it in al-Wahshyeh , north of Aleppo.
Army units also targeted terrorists’ concentrations in al-Lairamon, al-Radwanyeh, Treidum, al-Sheikkh Ahmad, Kifr Naha, the old city, al-Rashidin, Salah Eddin, al-Mansoura, Bani Zaid and near the air force academy.
Idleb
In the northern province of Idleb, a unit of the army and armed forces killed a terrorist group and destroyed an armored vehicle with terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra onboard at Janet al-Qura village in the countryside of the northern province.
Later, the army’s air force targeted gatherings for terrorists in Jisr al-Shoughour, Sugar Factory and Abu al-Dhour in Idleb countryside, destroying a number of vehicles and killing tens of terrorists.
Hama
The army’s air force killed a number of terrorists and destroyed their vehicles through targeting their gatherings in Hamadi Omar, Kfar Zeita and Skeik in Hama countryside.
Homs
An army unit, aided by the popular defense groups, ambushed a group of terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) near al-Tafha village in the eastern countryside of the central province of Homs.
A military source told SANA Tuesday that the dozens of the terrorists were killed in the operation, which also resulted in the destruction of a vehicle equipped with a heavy machinegun.
ISIS terrorists also suffered heavy losses during army operations against their gatherings in Unq al-Hawa and al-Msheirfeh al-Shamaliyeh in Jebb al-Jarrah area.
Army air forces targeted ISIS concentrations in Jazal, Palmyra and Talbeseh in Homs countryside, killing scores of terrorists and destroying a number of their vehicles.
Hasaka
Meanwhile, a source in the northeastern Hasaka province told SANA that units of the army and armed forces destroyed hideouts and gatherings of “ISIS” terrorists in Sabah al-Khair and Milbiya areas in the countryside of the province.
Deir Ezzor
A military source told SANA that an Army unit destroyed hideouts of ISIS terrorists in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Military Airport, killing many terrorists in the process.
