Damascus, SANA- State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Dr. Ali Haidar discussed Thursday with a South Africa delegation currently visiting Syria bilateral cooperation relations, national reconciliations and chances for a political solution.
Haidar affirmed that the Syrian government is working to return the displaced Syrians abroad, pointing out that some states like Jordan and Turkey had blocked the Syrian government’s communications with camps hosting Syrian refugees in their countries “because they wanted to exploit the humanitarian issue of the displaced Syrians and use it as a political tool against the Syrian government.”
The big problem lies in the magnitude of media fabrications that are meant to dismay the Syrians willing to return home, he added.
“Western countries are trying to draw Syria into sectarian or tribal conflicts, which will not happen,” the minister affirmed.
Haidar considered that the Syrian government had made a wise decision by leaving the Palestinian file in Yarmouk Camp and other camps to the Palestinians, asserting that “up till now, no Syrian forces had entered the Camp.”
For their part, delegation members affirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Syria and South Africa and conveying the truth about the ongoing events in Syria.
In press statements following the meeting, minister Haidar said that the delegation wanted to have a close look at the Syrian experience of national reconciliations that have been accomplished in over 50 areas and the way the Syrian experience in this regard is unique compared to other countries, including South Africa.
