Cairo, SANA- The Arab League has stressed the need to respect the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, noting that it is following with great concern the developments on the ground there.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the League’s Secretary-General, expressed the concern of the Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, regarding the successive developments that the country has been witnessing for several days and their effects on civilians, which open up many possibilities, including the occurrence of chaos that terrorist groups will exploit to resume their activities.
The official spokesman stressed the commitment of the General Secretariat of the League to all elements of the political position on the situation in Syria as stated in the decisions of the League’s Council at its various levels.
