Tartous, SANA – Patriarch of Antioch for the Syriac Catholic Church Mar Ignatius Joseph III Younan said that atrocities committed against Christians in Syria and Iraq stress the duty of the Syrians, regardless of their backgrounds, to defend their country and protect the humanitarian existence in light of the criminal exercises committed by the takfiri organizations in Syria and Iraq.
During his meeting Tuesday with Tartous Governor, Safwan Abu Saadi, Patriarch Younan said the atrocities perpetrated against Christians in the northeastern province of Hasaka and their displacement from Mosul, and Nineveh Plain in Iraq will not eliminate their right in returning and exercising their role in reconstruction along with their fellow citizens.
For his part, the Governor pointed out the national unity Syria is enjoying, which has a great role in country’s steadfastness against terrorism, clarifying that Tartous province has embraced half a million displaced citizens from other provinces.
The Religious Supervisor at Tartous Endowments Directorate, Sheikh Abdullah al-Sayyed, reviewed “Fadila” Project launched by the Ministry on consolidating the correct religious discourse and the national principles of the Syrian society.
This visit comes within the Patriarch’s tour to a number of provinces, where his Beatitude visited Homs, Hama and the cities of Yabroud and al-Nabek in Damascus Countryside, leading masses and prayers.
