New York, SANA- Iran’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani said that the illegitimate presence of US forces in Syria constitutes a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and these forces must withdraw immediately.
Iran once again calls for the US forces’ withdrawal from Syria as the illegitimate presence of these forces not only violates Syria’s sovereignty and territory, but it is also the main source of instability and insecurity in the country, and provide space and cover for terrorist groups to strengthen their position and commit more crimes, Iravani said as he addressed a UN Security Council session in New York on Thursday.
Iravani affirmed his country’s full support for the Syrian government in the fight against terrorism, IRNA reported.
The Iranian UN ambassador strongly condemned the aggressive actions carried out by the Israeli terrorist entity against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, which continue with complete impunity and without any reaction from the Security Council.
Likewise, he urged the immediate lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Washington and its allies on Syria, noting that the continuation of such inhumane acts violates the basic human rights of the Syrian people.
The Iranian UN ambassador appreciated the Syrian government’s cooperation with the United Nations and other international institutions that provide the necessary facilities for relief and assistance to the affected areas, emphasizing that any assistance mechanism must be implemented in close coordination with the Syrian government.
