The 11th round of General Council of Trade Unions Federation starts in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- With the presence of Premier Hussein Arnos and a number of ministers, works of 11th round of General Council of Trade Unions Federation began Wednesday at the Federation building in Damascus.

Discussions focused on a number of workers’ demands, and emphasized the necessity of joint work between ministries, public institutions, unions and workers’ representatives, with the aim of finding solutions to the issues and difficulties facing the production and investment process and the industrial public sector.

Arnous stressed that one of the priorities of government work is to provide all forms of support to the agricultural and industrial sectors, expand agricultural industrialization projects, support small projects, and increase production, pointing to the importance of investing in industrial areas and cities due to the availability of all infrastructure there, such as water, electricity, and other services.

In his response to the proposals of members of the Federation, the Prime Minister explained that compensation is granted to workers based on the work performed, and that the Ministry of Industry has been assigned to address the conditions of workers in destroyed companies and invest their energies in other production sites so that they can benefit from incentives.

The Prime Minister indicated that granting incentives is done according to clear and standards, primarily with the aim of improving the conditions of workers in production sites

Regarding the suspended institutions and factories, Arnous said that the government has proposed several projects for investment through partnerships with the aim of increasing production.

The Prime Minister indicated that raw materials used in pharmaceutical industries are exempted from all fees, with the aim of reducing production costs and securing medicine
