Syria participates in the meetings of IMF and World Bank, Morocco

Rabat, SANA- The challenges that have been facing the global economy were discussed by Syria and representatives of the states participating in the annual meetings of The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The participants stressed the importance of supporting the international efforts to achieve stability and offer the help needed by all to encounter catastrophes.

The horizons of developing work in the IMF and the World Bank were touched upon in the meeting, especially in terms of broadening the role of developing counties in governance of the international financial institutions as well as in decision-making processes within them.

The 2023 World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings is currently being held in Morocco (October 9-15), marking 50 years since they were last held in Africa. This year’s focus is on ending poverty sustainably, exploring effective solutions for global challenges, including job creation, digital infrastructure, and climate action.
