Syria presents a great experience in confronting all forms of extremism, Awqaf Minister

Cairo,SANA- Activities of the 34th Int’l Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Kicked off in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo on Saturday with participation of Syria.

The two-day Conference is held under the motto (Cyberspace and modern means of religious rhetoric).

Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed affirmed, during the conference, that Syria, with all its institutions, has offered a great experience in confronting all forms of extremism and intolerance, referring to Syria’s significant challenges related to terrorism, killing, Takfir, and extremism which affect the youth through cyberspace.

Minister al-Sayyed stressed that the importance of benefiting from the modern technologies as a tool of creativity, noting that those tools represent one of the image of creativity.

Minister al-Sayyed underlined that religious institutions must benefit from the current virtual environment and prevent extremist groups from dominating social media minbars and use them to affect the brains of the youth.

The Minister of Awqaf called for promoting the supreme Islamic values, such as justice, charity, citizenship, amity and mercy, warning against the challenges of extremism from one hand and the risks of corruption and moral degeneration on the other hand.

A number of Ministers of Awqaf and heads of religious bodies from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Bahrain, Palestine, Mauritania, Russia, Nigeria, Albania and other Arab and Islamic countries participate in the conference.
