BRICS group supports multipolar world order and rejects hegemony

Johannesburg, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the BRICS group supports a world respecting international law and rejecting hegemony.

“We are working closely to strengthen supply chains within BRICS and the transition to national currencies in our transactions, in addition to digital currencies” said Putin in a video meeting during a plenary session between BRICS leaders at Johannesburg summit.

“Russia has decided to support the people who are fighting for their culture, for their traditions, for their language and for their future. Our actions in Ukraine have only one reason – to put an end to the war that was unleashed by the West and their satellites in Ukraine against the people living in Donbass,” Putin went on to say.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said also during the same session” We must fulfill our responsibilities and strengthen cooperation among us in light of the divisions in the world, and we must support developing countries in facing challenges and help them achieve development”.

“The BRICS states support the principle of multipolarity, work to strengthen the role of the United Nations and stand against closed alliances “the Chinese president added.

BRICS comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The summit of BRICS members is being held in South Africa from August 22 through 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin is participating in it via video link. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov represents Russia in South Africa in person.
