Damascus, SANA, On the occasion of Russia’s National Day, Russian Ambassador in Damascus, Azmatullah Kol Mohammadov held a reception ceremony Thursday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.
The reception was attended by Vice-President Najah al-Attar, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, Assistant Regional Secretary of al-Baath Party Hilal al-Hilal, Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban and a number of Syrian senior officials.
Dr. al-Attar appreciated the Russian honorable stances towards Syria and its role in defending human rights and developing cultural, economic and social relations between the two countries.
For his part, al-Hilal stressed that Russia stands by justice around the world while the west seeks to exploit the Ukrainian cause to practice its hatred against a sovereign country like Syria.
He hailed the Russian stance at the UN Security Council using 4 vetoes to prevent passing any resolutions against the Syrian people.
In turn, Dr. Shabban said that Russia under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin has given the world an example in supporting legitimacy and international ethics and advocacy of the peoples against terrorism.
Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad said that the Syrian people share the Russian people’s celebrations of the National Day amid achievements gained by Syria, adding that the crisis to which the region and the world are exposed were due to the aggressive and imperialism policies against Syria and Russia.
The Russian ambassador said that determination of Syria, Russia and a large number of other countries to pursue an independent policy, defend the main principles of the international law and refuse interference in the other states’ internal affairs raise other parties’ attempts to expand their geopolitical control and to directly come close to the Russian borders.
He affirmed that the attempts to isolate Russia and impose various sanctions on it by returning the cold war atmosphere will not succeed.
The Russian Diplomat stressed that Russia is firmly determined to develop fruitful cooperation with Syria in all fields, especially with regard to the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the armed terrorist groups.
He touched upon the continued cooperation relations between the two countries and the joint vision with regard to reaching a just and comprehensive settlement to the Arab-Israeli conflict, including the liberation of the occupied Syrian Golan.
