Damascus countryside, SANA- Ministers of Agriculture of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan visited on Tuesday the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) in Damascus countryside.
The ministers heard to comprehensive presentations by the director of the center and its experts about the Center, its fields of work, the history of its cooperation with the four countries, the projects it is carrying on in the field of plant production, combating desertification, water resources management, discovering of new varieties of grain, along with what it has achieved.
Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qatna noted in a statement that the aim of visiting the center is to keep it up to date with the results of its research and studies, which are concerned with achieving food security and addressing all the problems that agriculture suffers from in the Arab world.
The Iraqi Minister , Eng. Abbas Abbas Al-Alaywi, praised the continuous cooperation of ACSAD in the agricultural sector in light of the climatic challenges that the region suffers from.
The Jordanian Minister Khaled al-Hanifat, in turn, pointed out to the great role that ACSAD is carrying on in Jordan in finding solutions to the challenges related to climate change.
Lebanese Minister, Abbas Hajj Hassan noted that the center is a main partner in activating inter-Arab work by stimulating agricultural work in each country separately.
