Nebenzia: Fact-Finding Mission report on allegations of chemical weapons use in Douma a scandal

New York, SANA- Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, has affirmed that what happened in preparing the report of the Fact-Finding Mission regarding allegations of the use of chemical weapons in Douma represents an ugly scandal, as its final version was simply rewritten under pressure from Western countries.

During a session of the UN Security Council, Nebenzia was surprised that the Fact-Finding Mission and the illegal investigation team had violated the basic principle of collecting and securing evidence, and how the OPCW Director-General, Fernando Arias, signed documents whose conclusions are based on information from a third party, such as the “White Helmets” organization, which does not hide its bias.

Nebenzia pointed out that the report of the OPCW investigation team ignores the scientific, logical and causal links.

Nebenzia stressed that the United States is lying, claiming that Russia prevented OPCW inspectors from reaching the city of Douma in April 2018, noting that “people now remember that on April 10, Damascus sent an official invitation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to send inspectors to the city of Douma who sat in Damascus and did not all go to Douma.

Nebenzia stated, “On the 14th of April 2018, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France launched a large-scale missile strike against Syrian civilian and military facilities, in other words, Paris, London, and Washington, without waiting for any investigations.”
