Pakistani Senate chairman starts a 3-day visit to Syria

Damascus Countryside, SANA Syrian-Pakistani relations are close and historical, Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari told reporters in Damascus on Monday.

We seek to enhance those relations and activate parliamentary cooperation between the two countries,” said Bokhari in a press statement upon his arrival in Jdaidet Yabous crossing on a three-day visit to Syria accompanied by a number of Pakistani senators.

Bokhari stressed that the sovereignty of countries should be respected, calling for activating the role of the Asian Parliamentary
Assembly over which he is currently presiding.

The Pakistani delegation was received at Jdaidet Yabous crossing on the border with Lebanon by Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, Chairperson of the parliamentary Committee for Arab and Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani Ambassador in Damascus Wahid Ahmad.
