Damascus, SANA -Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad received credentials of Luong Quoc Huy as Vietnam’s non-resident Ambassador in Damascus.
Minister Mikdad welcomed the ambassador, underscoring Syria’s constant keenness to develop its relations with friendly Vietnam, based on Syria’s policy of heading east towards the peoples and countries that adhere to the principles of international law, and purposes of the UN Charter.
Mikdad reviewed the challenges facing the Syrians due to unilateral coercive economic measures, and stealing Syrian oil and wealth by US occupation forces, pointing to the opportunities that can be used with Vietnam to confront these challenges in a manner serving the interest of the two friendly peoples.
The new appointed ambassador Hui, for his part, expressed his happiness at this appointment as a non-resident ambassador to Syria, underlining his aspiration to make all possible efforts to develop relations and enhance political consultation and economic cooperation with Syria.
Ambassador Hui reiterated his country’s position in support of Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and Vietnam’s readiness to cooperate with Syria in reconstruction projects and other areas of common interest.
