Homs, (SANA) Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said that reparation work will soon commence at the landmark Khaled Bin al-Walid Mosque in Homs.
The minister was speaking during a visit to the mosque, which is named after Khaled Bin al-Walid, a revered companion of the Prophet Mohammad. Al-Sayyed said that the reparation, due to begin soon upon the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, will “restore the mosque to its previous glamour.” The landmark mosque in Homs city has sustained significant damage at the hands of terrorists who had run amok in the area before security and stability were restored. Later, the Minister inspected the ruins of destruction and sabotage that affected the old city by acts of armed terrorist groups, and visited al-Arabe’en Church in the presence of Homs Governor Talal Barazi and Patriarch Mar Ignatius Ephraim II of Antioch and All the East. In a relevant context, a thanks’ mass was held at Um al-Zennar church (Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt ) in old Homs for Syria’s victory and restoration of security and stability to the city. The Patriarch affirmed that Homs citizens have announced to the whole world that the national unity, consolidated by President Bashar al-Assad, is the only guarantor for the safety of Syria. He expressed his congregation’s joy over electing Dr. Bashar al-Assad as President of Syria and their readiness to cooperate with all Syrian citizens to rebuild Syria, adding that that 5 million SYP has been allocated for the restoration works in Um Zennar Church. |
