Damascus, SANA- September 11 attacks, 2001, which struck the United States constituted a historical watershed in international politics that led to the imposition of a new world order led by the US to interfere in the affairs of world countries and achieve its geopolitical interests and ambitions around the world.
On September 11, 2001, two Boeing planes collided with the World Trade Center twin towers in the Manhattan area of New York City, which led to the collapse of the two towers, while the third plane struck the Pentagon, near Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crushed down southeast of Pittsburgh, in the state of Pennsylvania, and those attacks claimed the lives of nearly three thousand Americans.
After the aforementioned attacks, photos spread across the world showing the collapse of the two towers, raising many concerns and questions, most notably how the attackers were able to carry out such an attack in America itself.
At that time, the 9/11 Truth Movement appeared in the United States and it slammed what it described as lies and contradictions of the US government and called for a new investigation into the attacks.
The Movement promoted two theories, according to the first, the US authorities were informed that the attacks will be launched and had not done anything to stop them, while the second theory accused the same authorities of being the mastermind of Sep. 11 attacks.
The United States and its Atlantic allies were quick to take advantage of the 9/11 attacks to start developing a so-called “fighting terrorism” strategy, which is in fact a sinister scheme aimed at interfering in the affairs of other countries and occupying them under the pretext of eliminating terrorism and curbing the threats posed by terrorists around the world.
Less than a month after the attacks, the United States formed an alliance with the NATO countries to start the war and intervene in Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, under the pretext of eliminating “al-Qaeda” terrorist organization, and less than two years after the Western intervention in Afghanistan, America and its allies began to invade Iraq in March 2003.
Afghanistan and Iraq wars led to the destruction of these two countries, killing and displacing millions of people and creating a massive human tragedy. The two wars cost about $5 trillion, according to the British Guardian newspaper in a report last year.
The United States did not stop there, but rather it has supported the interventions, wars, and crises in Libya, Yemen and Syria under the pretext of combating terrorism, but newspaper reports have confirmed that America’s goal in these interventions is to plunder and steal the wealth and resources of these countries, and to destabilize security and stability in them.
Today, 21 years after the 9/11 attacks, the United States and many other countries are still practicing their antagonistic policies, sowing tensions and chaos and waging wars in a number of countries across the world, and working to fuel crises, as is the case in Ukraine this year, within the framework of its ambitions and schemes, including its attempt to impose hegemony on the world politically, economically and militarily.
