On the 5th anniversary of Deir- Ezzor victory over terrorism, recovery embrace all sectors

Deir-Ezzor, SANA- Deir-Ezzor citizens celebrate the five-year anniversary of breaking the siege been imposed on the city by DAESH terrorists thanks to the Syrian Arab Army efforts.

Five years after lifting the siege, Deir-Ezzor has been witnessing the return of most services and reactivation of work in governmental institutions and departments, which has contributed to the return of more than one million citizens to cities and villages there.

“The province worked to secure basic services for the liberated areas, primarily removing rubble, opening streets, rehabilitating sewage, water stations, bakeries and schools, in addition to the rest of the services such as electricity, communications, solar lighting, activating government departments and reviving commercial markets”, member of the Executive Office of the Services and Utilities Sector, Eng. Rabie al-Arfi, said in a statement to SANA.

Director of the Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Deir Ezzor, Louranss al-Hussein said that the establishment is working to secure clean and potable water for all areas liberated from terrorism through 71 main and model water stations, adding that the number of water pumping stations put into service increased from one station in 2017 to 33 in 2018 and has reached 71 ones by now.

“Since the electricity return to the province in 2018, most of the governorate’s areas have been fed through rehabilitating and operating electrical stations there, Director of the General Electricity Company, Khaled Lutfi, stated.

Deir Ezzor Education Director Jassem al-Freih told SANA that the educational sector is one of the domains that has witnessed a rapid recovery, as the number of running schools has reached 365 ones, and the number of students is 165,000, with all requirements of the educational process have been secured.

“The agricultural sector recovered after securing production needs such as seeds, fertilizers, fuel and irrigation water”, Director of Agriculture, Fouad Abdoun, explained.

Director of Health, Dr. Bashar al-Shuaibi, said that the sector in the governorate has witnessed a remarkable improvement in the years that followed lifting the siege, as the number of health centers increased from 4 at the end of 2017 to 42 ones.

The rest of the sectors received great support, which contributed to improving the service reality at the governorate.
