Czech Republic continues to supply Ukraine with weapons despite popular opposition

Prague, SANA- The Czech Ministry of Defense announced that it has provided Ukraine with military aid worth $136 million in ammunition and heavy weapons, including Dana self-propelled artillery guns, RM-70 Grad launchers, T-72 tanks and armored infantry vehicles.

The Novinki website quoted a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defense as saying that “the Czech Republic is now in talks with Germany about cooperation in providing more military aid to Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, the German “Die Welt” newspaper reported that Berlin offered the Czech Republic to provide it with materials and weapons, in exchange for what it would provide to Ukraine.

The Czech government’s insistence on continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons comes in light of widespread popular opposition to these steps, as a recent opinion poll conducted by Cal Focus showed that 60 percent of Czechs refuse to send Czech weapons to Ukraine and consider it dangerous because it engage their country in the ongoing war in this country.
