Moscow, SANA- The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that the Russian forces advanced 12 kilometers into the territory of the Republic of Donetsk and targeted 89 military installations of the Ukrainian forces during the past 24 hours.
“The Russian armed forces continue to defeat the Ukrainian nationalist battalion called (Donbass)، as they advanced 12 kilometers during the day and reached the Nikolskoye line in cooperation with forces from the Donetsk People’s Republic and besieged the town of Sladkoye from three sides,” the ministry’s spokesman, Major-General Igor Konashenkov said in a press briefing on Sunday evening.
Konashenkov added that battles are currently taking place with the remnants of that battalion and units of the 54th Brigade of the Ukrainian forces in order to control the towns of Sladkoye, Novoukrainka and Shakhtarsk, noting that the operation resulted in the elimination of 60 militants and the destruction of two tanks, 3 infantry vehicles and 6 six artillery systems.
“The forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic continued to pursue the retreating units of the 53rd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and intensified the offensive in the direction of the town of Novomykhailovka, where they killed 20 militants and destroyed a tank and an armored infantry carrier,” Konashenkov said.
He added that in the direction of Novoselovka, units of the Donetsk Republic have penetrated the defenses of the 25th Air Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and continued to advance to control the towns of Kamenka and Novoselovka.”
Konashenkov said that Russian warplanes struck 89 Ukrainian military installations in one day, including four four control centers, two multiple missile launcher systems, nine artillery systems, five weapons and munitions depots, and 65 places of military vehicles’ deployment.
Konashenkov indicated that the Russian air defense systems have shot down seven Ukrainian drones, adding that since the beginning of the military operation, the Russian forces have destroyed 214 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, 1,483 tanks and armored military vehicles, 150 multiple missile launcher systems, 584 artillery systems and mortars, as well as 1,279 special combat cars.
