Antonov: US military presence in Syria is illegitimate

Washington, SANA-Ambassador of Russia to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, reaffirmed Russian stance that refuses the US occupation in Syria, stressing that the military presence of US on the Syrian territories is illegitimate.

“Russia and US maintain the bilateral communications and talks on Syria, especially regarding cooperation through military channels that proved its effectiveness ,but we believe that the US military existence is illegitimate and the occupation of parts of Syrian territories is unacceptable” Antonov said in a statement to the American magazine of Newsweek.

The Russian Ambassador pointed out that Russia stresses the necessity of the US forces’ withdrawal from all Syrian territories.
