Death toll from coronavirus approaches five million persons worldwide

Capitals, SANA- Since its outbreak in December 2019, the worldwide novel coronavirus has claimed the lives of about five million, while the infections have exceeded 235,315,000 persons, according to the last statistics by the American Worldometers Website.

The total number of worldwide infections have reached up to 235,315,782 cases, while the death toll has reached up to 4,809,565 and the recoveries have amounted to 212,069,195, the Site added.

The US still tops the worst affected countries by the virus in terms of the number of infections and deaths as it has recorded 719,316 deaths out of 44,455,726 infections.

India comes second with 448,844 deaths out of 33,812,523 infections, and then Brazil comes in the third place as it has registered 597,292 deaths out of 21,445,651 infections.
