Food Expo wraps up activities with promises of economic improvement

Damascus, SANA – The food exhibition under the title “Together to push the wheel of economy towards a better Syria” wrapped up activities on Wednesday.

The “Fodd Expo” was held by Delta Group for Economy and Business in cooperation with Ministry of Industry and Syrian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

During a his visit to the exhibition, Minister of Administrative Development Dr. Hassan al-Nouri, said that the presence of the industrial firms is an achievement that is to be added to the Syrian Arab Army’s feats to prove the ability of Syria’s people, army and businessmen to fortify its economy and defeat the enemies.
Minister al-Nouri lauded the efforts exerted for making this exhibition a success within the current situation, hoping that the industry of exhibitions would revive again and organize exhibitions with the participation of economic and industrial companies, which are recovering.

Minister of Industry Kamal Eddin Tu’meh stressed the importance of the exhibition as it brings together industrialists working in the food industry sector in this economic event after a three-year halt for promoting their products as it constitutes an opportunity for expertise exchange among industrialists and visitors.

The Minister hailed the insistence of food industry companies to continue the work despite the harsh circumstances taking place in the country, adding that they are providing the local market with products and fulfilling the citizens’ needs.

He pointed out that these companies have exportation plans for bringing foreign currencies to the state’s treasury.

For his part, Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Fares al-Shihabi considered that establishing an integrated exhibition after four years since the beginning of the crisis highlights the ability of the Syrian industrialists to manufacture and export any product.

He stressed that many of the industrialists have turned back to the country and re-operated their factories because investing in Syria is far better than doing that in any other country “due to Syria’s distinguished geographic position and because skillful laborers are available here.”

Director-General of Delta Group for Economy and Business Ghaiath al-Shamma’ said that organizing the Exhibition highlights the strong presence of the food industries in the local market as it also shows exerted efforts for fulfilling local needs despite the current situation prevailing the country.
