28,762 hectares of chickpea in Sweida harvested

Sweida, SANA- The harvested areas of chickpea crop in Sweida reached at 28,762 hectares with implementation rate of 97% for cultivated areas amounting to 29,697 hectares.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Director of Agriculture Directorate in Sweida, Ayham Hamed said that harvesting chickpea is carried out manually. It will continue during the next days.

He pointed out that this current season is good due to suitable conditions for the production.

He indicated that chickpea crop is considered as one of the main crops in the province, the majority of its varieties are cultivated in spring.

The preliminary estimates of chickpea production in Sweida’a Agriculture Directorate,  for the current season are  about 10,254 tons.
