China affirms rejection of Turkish offensive on Syrian territory

Paris, SANA- China has affirmed its rejection of the Turkish offensive on the Syrian territories, reiterating its stance which calls for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria according to the International Security Council’s resolution no. 2254.

Xinhua News Agency quoted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in an interview with AFP published on Tuesday as saying ” We reject Turkey’s use of force in Syria, and we hope that it would adhere to the principle of the political solution to the crisis in Syria.”

“Any measure taken by the Security Council should be based on an convergence in  the opinions and it shouldn’t reflect the opinion of a single side,” the Foreign Minister added.

Yi asserted China’s frim stance towards the crisis in Syria, expressing at the same time his country’s readiness to cooperate with all countries in combating terrorism and confronting its dangers.

He noted that China always rejects the use of force against any independent state.

Recently, China through its Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan has underlined the necessity of exerting more efforts to achieve a progress in the political process in order to solve the crisis in Syria in parallel with continuing the process of combating terrorism in the country.
