Geneva, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative at the UN and international organizations in Geneva Hussam Eddin Ala affirmed Syria’s solidarity with the efforts of Nicaragua’s government and people to achieve political, social, and economic stability in their country.
In a statement at a Human Rights Council meeting for discussing a report on the situation in Nicaragua, Ala said Syria opposes on principle the selective and politicized nature of the Council’s work, and that Syria denounces the use of human rights as a tool to biolate states’ sovereignty, interfere in their internal affairs, and target their governments’ based on misleading media campaigns.
He called on the international community to support Nicaragua’s efforts to emerge from its crisis via dialogue without foreign interference that seeks to destabilize it.
