Lattakia governor, ICRC delegation discuss health assistance to health sector in the province

Lattakia, SANA-Lattakia governor Ahmad Sheikh Abdul-Kader discussed on Monday with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) the possibility of providing health assistance to hospitals and health centers in the province.

The governor highlighted the needs of the health sector that is hobbled by challenges under an economic embargo imposed on Syria, inviting the delegation to visit the makeshift residential centers  to inspect their needs.

He said the ministry is ready to meet all needed requirements in terms of assistance and services, hailing the humanitarian role of the ICRC.

The delegation members, for their part, gave a review of the assistance that the international organization can provide and its current programs.

Head of the delegation Silvia Izo told SANA reporter that the visit is aimed to assess the health needs of the province and what equipment and medicine can be offered to hospitals.
